Real vs Fake Amber:
There are lots of claims that there is a lot of fake amber out there and there is!! Most of the fakes are the large pieces with inclusions (bugs etc) inside. These sell for top dollar!! The amber products that we sell, are small pieces of amber that you wouldn’t find in an expensive jewelry store, collectors site or museum. Our products are made from the smallest of amber pieces. Think of diamonds, the smaller the piece, the value goes way down so there isn’t any real reason to create fakes for them. If you would still like to test your amber, use ¼ cup of salt and 2 cups of warm water ~ mix well. Place your amber in and it will float. I learned this the hard way….. rinse all of your amber after you take it out of the salt water, lol!! OH, and the best way to know if your amber is real or fake, buy your trusted brand.... Healing Amber! Look for our Healing Amber product card that comes with your product, and you will know that you have high quality, genuine baltic amber and piece of mind.
Can I wear it in the Shower/Bath/Pool?
Absolutely! The water will help the amber warm which increases absorbency, increasing the effectiveness.
How long does Baltic Amber last?
Your amber will last many lifetimes. The silk string or elastic will wear out before the beads ever do. If and when this happens, feel free to restring it or make it into something else fun and beautiful.
Wearing vs. Chewing:
Baltic Amber is effective when wearing it, not ingesting. Please don’t ever place in you or your child’s mouth. You can’t overdose on it, but it is a choking hazard when in your mouth.
Do I lay my amber in the sun to recharge it?
Nope, what the sun does is warm it, which softens it, which increases effectiveness for the time being. The same way that baths and showers do! Amber doesn’t need any special treatment, it is what it is and works when against your skin.
How do I wash it?
Wipe it with a damp cloth…. simple and effective.
Our amber pieces are hand made by our team of artisans in Lithuania. All sizes are approximate and have up to a 1 inch variance with necklaces and 1/2 inch variance with bracelets. Our amber pieces will stretch over time with wear.
What size to order:
Take a string and put it around your neck, wrist or ankle loosely and where you would like to wear it. Mark the string, place it next to a ruler or tape measure and voila ~ that is your size! Find the size that is closest to what you would like on your local retailer's website or walk on in, let them know your size and place your order.
Remember that the string your amber is on will stretch over time, but please don't pull on it as it may release the safety feature and your jewelry clasp will not work then.
Amber is a natural resin and comes in many shapes and sizes. The names of the shapes for beads are self explanatory..... triangles, chunky, circles, mini-circles and ovals. They all have smooth rounded edges and have many variations within their own category - no two beads are alike (colour, shape and size)!
Amber comes in many different colors and shades and their names help explain how light or dark they are from gold to molasses! There are many variations within each color and don't forget to look for specks of uniqueness throughout!
What is Raw Amber?:
ALL of our amber is raw amber, it is in it's natural state. When you see us describe a necklace or bracelet as 'raw', it means that it has a matte finish. The rest of our amber has been polished to shine! If you purchase a raw piece, it will end up looking polished over time.
